I read the student blog entry that Ed provided -- and later received the URL to a more complete blog entry through a journalism prof listserv.
I could make several comments about this student's blog -- her comments about curriculum, her comments about her teacher and her classmates, etc. But the one comment I'll make for us to consider is how we would feel if a student in our course was blogging about the relevance/content of our class sessions.
Be professional - We are using this blog as an extension of our classroom -- for discussions and sharing information. Although txt mssg and IM promote abbreviated language, use standard English and use language that would be acceptable for a family newspaper.
Be diplomatic - Our blog could be read by others who are not in our class. So be diplomatic in any critical comments and do not include names of faculty members or course names in your remarks.
Be colleagial - You may not agree with a comment made by one of us in the class. But no flaming (ALL CAPS) or hostile remarks.
